Vipava Valley – home of natural wines
Natural wine is not a marketing label. It is a production method that starts in the vineyard — with organic or biodynamic farming — and ends in the bottle without filtration, without added yeast, with minimal sulfite content.
The Vipava Valley is extremely favorable for natural winemaking. The marly soil, sub-Mediterranean climate, and the bora — a cold northeast wind that ventilates the vineyards and maintains the health of the vines — create natural conditions that reduce the need for intervention.
In addition, the valley grows indigenous varieties that cannot be found almost anywhere else in the world: Zelen, Pinela, Poljšakica. Varieties with a character that is worth tasting.
Wine tasting at Vina Krapež
Vina Krapež is an organic family winery that has been producing wine since 1928. Today it is run by Martin and his son Vid — the fourth generation, continuing the tradition of natural winemaking on 8 hectares of vineyards above Vrhpolje.
During a guided tasting, accompanied by homemade local snacks, you will discover a selection of our natural wines, the history of our farm, our winemaking approach, and the unique terroir of the Vipava Valley. Tastings for individuals and groups are available by prior arrangement.
